If you're looking to develop your team leading skills to manage a team effectively, this fully online Level 2 Team Leader course will help you do just that.

This qualification will teach you the principles of team leading, how to use different styles of leadership to enhance your team's performance, and how to motivate team members to get the best out of them. You'll learn how to manage conflict within teams, how to handle dissatisfied customers and how to be the best mentor possible.

Course Content

This course is split into 3 mandatory units, and 5 optional units.

Mandatory Units:

Principles of team leading:

This unit will provide you with an understanding of leadership styles in organisations. You will develop knowledge of team dynamics and the techniques used to manage the work of teams. You will also gain an appreciation of the impact of change management and how a motivate teams an organisation.

Understanding business:

This unit will give you an understanding of organisational structures and the business environment. Learners will also gain knowledge of business reporting within an organisation.

Understanding how to communicate work-related information:

This unit will equip learners with an understanding of the principles and techniques of work-related communication both verbally and in writing, and you will also develop the knowledge of a range of documents required for different type of meetings in a business environment.

Optional Units:

Understanding how to deliver customer service and resolve problems:

This unit will provide you with an understanding of customer service delivery and the relationship between customer service and brand. You will also become able to identify the techniques that are used to resolve customer service problems.

Understanding how to develop working relationships with colleagues:

This unit will provide you with an understanding of the principles of effective team working. You will also become able to identify what is required to develop working relationships with other teams and departments in your environment.

Introduction to coaching:

This unit aims to give you an introduction into coaching. You will be able to explore the concept of coaching and how it can be used within the workplace to improve performance.

Introduction to mentoring:

This unit will give you the understanding of what effective mentoring is. You will be able to explore the role and benefits of mentoring and the use of tools and skills to support the mentoring process.

Understanding personal development:

This unit aims to give you an understanding of the role of a team leader and how to plan for personal development 

Career Progression

This Level 2 course in the Principles of Team Leading can help with professional development and lead to careers in Business and Management. Such careers include;

  • Business Project Manager (£22,000 to £70,000)
  • Catering Manager (£19,00 to £40,000)
  • Construction Manager (£27,000 to £65,000)

How you will be assessed

There are no exams, all courses require you to complete assessment questions based on the knowledge you have gained from the units, at your own pace.
