In this course you will gain an understanding of mental health conditions and the factors involved in mental well-being and mental ill health. You will learn about the purpose of the Mental Capacity Act and how it protects people who can’t make their own decisions. You will consider situations where individuals may choose to grant another person the ability to make decisions on their behalf. You will learn how it is decided whether an individual has capacity to make their own decisions under this legislation.

You will also gain an understanding of how the Act is enforced. You will cover the right to liberty and consider the deprivation of liberty and the safeguards in place under the Mental Capacity Act. You will look at the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, the reasons that changes are needed and the Liberty Protection Safeguards that are due to replace them.

Access Duration

You will have 12 months of access to your online study platform from the date you purchased the course. You can complete the course in stages, revisiting the training at any time. It is self-paced so you can decide how quickly to progress through it.

Method of Assessment

At the end of the course, learners will take an online multiple-choice question assessment test. This online multiple choice question test is marked automatically so you will receive an instant grade and know whether you have passed the course. The pass mark is 80%.

Successful candidates will be awarded a digital PDF certificate of completion.
