NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Understanding the Care and Management of Diabetes

Diabetes is a growing health problem worldwide, but it can be prevented, delayed or managed with simple lifestyle changes. Whether you work in the care sector or just want to look out for your own health or the health of someone you know, this online course will provide you with essential knowledge.  During this 7-week, online course, you'll learn about the different forms and causes of diabetes, as well as the care, treatment and management of the condition.

This course is divided into 4 units:

Understand Diabetes:

The aim of this unit is to enable you to understand how glucose and insulin function in the body, how different types of diabetes occur and the risk factors associated with Type 2 diabetes.

Prevention and early intervention of Type 2 Diabetes:

The aim of this unit is to teach you to understand how the onset of Type 2 diabetes can be prevented or delayed through lifestyle changes.

Understand the initial care of diabetes:

The aim of this unit is to help you to understand how a diagnosis of diabetes can impact on an individual and how the condition can be managed and monitored.

Understand the treatment and management of diabetes:

The aim of this unit is to teach you how to understand the on-going care and treatment recommended to control blood glucose levels and prevent complications for people with diabetes. 

This course in Understanding the Care and Management of Diabetes will give you the insight you need if you were to pursue a career in Health and Social Care. Careers such as;

• Social Work Assistant (£12,500 to £25,000)
• Senior Care Worker (£17,000 to £27,000)
• Occupational Health Nurse (£22,000 to £45,000)

There are no exams, all courses require you to complete assessment questions based on the knowledge you have gained from the units, at your own pace.
